My cats are used to staying on automatic food dispensers for a maximum of two nights at a time. If I need to be away for longer than that, I ask someone nearby to come over at least once a day to give them wet food and clean their litter box. I’ve been following this routine for a long time, and my cats are well accustomed to it.
