È una razza tedesca: il nome originale "Dachshund" significa "cane da tasso". Il corpo basso e lungo gli permetteva di entrare nelle tane per stanare tassi, volpi e conigli.
Carattere
È vivace, curioso, indipendente e molto affettuoso con la famiglia. Ha un ottimo fiuto e un abbaio potente, sorprendente per la sua taglia. Può essere ostinato: l'educazione richiede pazienza e coerenza.
Curiosità
- Esistono tre taglie (standard, nano e kaninchen) e tre tipi di pelo: corto, lungo e duro.
- Un bassotto colorato di nome Waldi è stato la mascotte delle Olimpiadi di Monaco 1972.
- In molti paesi è affettuosamente chiamato "cane salsiccia".
Cura e convivenza
